Woodside has said that its Scarborough gas field development and Pluto LNG expansion (Train 2) projects “combined were 25% complete” by the end of December 2022 and remain on track for targeted first LNG cargo in 2026, “bringing essential volumes into a market demanding more LNG.”

The Australian operator has reported the following latest developments for the Scarborough and Pluto Train 2 projects in its latest investor briefing:
* Manufacturing of the feedgas export trunkline 59% complete and 92% of the major equipment needed for the Scarborough floating production unit (FPU) has been ordered.
* FEED activities for Pluto Train 1 modifications were completed and the train’s modifications contractor selection targeted for the first half of 2023.
* The Pluto Train 2 site in Western Australia was handed over to Bechtel and LNG train module construction commenced in Indonesia.
* Engagement with regulators on secondary environmental approvals continued for offshore execution activities, with no impact to critical path.
Woodside also said that it has signed binding agreements with Maran Gas Maritime Inc. for the long-term charter of two new-build LNG carriers to be delivered to support the delivery of Scarborough LNG cargoes and growth in trading activities.
According to the Global LNG Database®:
* The Scarborough's gas production to be allocated to: Pluto Train 2: for producing 5 MMT/Y of LNG; Pluto Train 1: for producing 3 MMT/Y of LNG; and Domestic gas: 250 TJ/day.
** Scarborough gas field development consists of up to 13 subsea wells drilled over the life of the Scarborough gas field and the installation of a semi-submersible FPU which provides gas processing including gas separation, dehydration and compression. A new 430-Km gas pipeline will transport dry gas from the FPU to the Woodside-operated Pluto LNG export facility.
*** McDermott International, Ltd has been awarded a contract for the engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning (EPCIC) services of the Scarborough gas development project’s FPU.
**** Saipem has been awarded a contract for the feedgas trunkline coating and installation of the pipeline that will connect the Scarborough gas field in the Carnarvon Basin with the under-development Pluto LNG plant’s second train.
