Rovuma LNG project FEED work is progressing with FID is expected next year

Engineering and design (FEED) work is progressing on the ExxonMobil-operated Rovuma LNG project in Mozambique. The FEED work is scheduled to be completed by the end of this year, ahead of the final investment decision (FID) in the first half of 2026.

According to the Global LNG Database®, the FEED contract for the Rovuma LNG Phase 1 project has been awarded to a consortium comprising McDermott (leader), Saipem and China Petroleum Engineering and Construction Corp. (CPECC).

 

The scope of work for the FEED contract includes the modular design of a greenfield LNG production facility in Afungi, all associated gas pre-treatment units and the utilities and offsite systems to support the production of 18 MMT/Y of LNG.
The scope of work also includes the EPC proposal.
JGC and Technip Energies are carrying out parallel FEED work for the project.

 

Rovuma LNG project, which consists of 12 fully modularized LNG trains, will utilize electric-driven LNG trains. The project also includes prefabricated and standardized modules that will be assembled on the project site which "providing cost competitiveness and delivery schedule reliability."

 

The shareholders of the Rovuma LNG project are Eni East Africa (Eni-ExxonMobil-CNPC JV) 70%, ENH 10%, Kogas 10% and ADNOC's XRG 10%.
