bp announced that it has begun to directly supply gas customers in China with gas from LNG that it has imported into the country.
bp announced that it has begun to directly supply gas customers in China with gas from LNG that it has imported into the country. This is the first time that bp has created “a fully integrated gas value chain into China, directly connecting upstream resources, transportation and trading with downstream gas customers.”
The first cargo of gas delivered under bp’s new terminal usage agreement at the Guangdong Dapeng LNG Company Limited (GDLNG) import terminal in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, arrived yesterday, the major said, adding that under the agreement, bp has 0.6 MMT/Y tolling regasification capacity at GDLNG.
According to the Global LNG Database®, shareholders of the GDLNG are: CNOOC 33%, BP 30%, Shenzhen Gas 10%, Guangdong Yudean 6%, Guangzhou Gas 6%, Shenzhen Energy 4%, Hong Kong Electric Holdings 3%, Hong Kong & China Gas 3%, Dongguan Fuel Industrial General 2.5%, Foshan Municipal Gas General 2.5%.
"Today represents an important milestone for our operations in China, growing our presence and connecting right along the gas value chain. With our world class technologies, marketing and trading capabilities, we have developed an innovative, diversified and flexible integrated business model enabling us to both provide more LNG to the region and also increase our access to downstream gas markets."
Last year, bp signed gas supply agreements with ENN Group and Foran Energy under which it will supply each of the Chinese companies with 0.3 MMT/Y of LNG in form of pipeline gas for two years from 2021.
In other development, bp has remarked that the first LNG truck fleet from the Shenzhen Dapeng LNG Marketing Company (SZDP) “has made its inaugural journey”.
