Santos has said that its Barossa gas and condensate project to backfill Darwin LNG [for up to 20 years] is 88.3% complete as of January 2025 and “remains on track for first production in the third quarter of 2025 within current cost guidance."
Santos has said that Barossa gas-to-LNG project to backfill Darwin LNG is approximately 97% complete at the end of the second quarter as the project “remains on target to commence production in the third quarter of 2025 and within current cost guidance.”
The project’s FPSO arrived at the Barossa gas field in the second quarter and was hooked up to the subsea infrastructure as “final commissioning activities are progressing to plan.”
According to the Global LNG Database®, BW Offshore’s BW Opal FPSO departed the Seatrium’s Tuas Boulevard Yard in Singapore and received at the project’s location in June.
The Barossa project’s offshore pipelines connecting the Barossa gasfield to the Darwin LNG plant are complete, tested and tied in, ready to receive gas from Barossa.
The Darwin LNG plant’s life extension project is approximately 93% complete with the plant now being prepared for first gas in the third quarter.
“Santos continues to expand its LNG production capacity to meet strong customer demand, with volumes set to increase significantly once Barossa is online in 2025,” Santos CEO Kevin Gallagher said.
