Cheniere announced that it has made a positive final investment decision (FID) on the Corpus Christi Midscale Trains 8 & 9 and debottlenecking project (CCL Midscale Trains 8 & 9) and has issued full notice to proceed to Bechtel for construction of the new trains.
According to the Global LNG Database®, the USA-based company plans to build two additional midscale LNG production Trains with an expected total production capacity of approximately 3 MMT/Y (CCL Midscale Trains 8 & 9 Project) adjacent to the CCL Stage 3 project.
Cheniere has already received authorization from the US FERC to site, construct and operate the project. In July 2023, it received authorization from the DOE to export LNG to FTA countries.
Cheniere has remarked that upon completion of CCL Midscale Trains 8 & 9, and together with expected debottlenecking and CCL Stage 3, the Corpus Christi LNG plant is expected to reach over 30 MMT/Y in total liquefaction capacity later this decade.
