TotalEnergies has said that its Marsa LNG project in Oman is 25% complete, and it is expected to start LNG bunkering operations by the first quarter 2028.

According to the Global LNG Database®, TotalEnergies (80%) and its Omani partner OQ (20%) have taken a positive investment decision on the 1 MMT/Y Marsa LNG project in April 2024.

The project is primarily intended to serve the marine fuel market in the Middle East and provide LNG bunkering service to ships in the Persian Gulf.

The Marsa LNG project’s main Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contracts have been awarded to Technip Energies and CB&I.

“The ambition of the Marsa LNG project is to serve as the first LNG bunkering hub in the Middle East, showcasing an available and competitive alternative marine fuel to reduce the shipping industry's emissions,” TotalEnergies has remarked.
