Fluxys announced that final investment decision taken for the Zeebrugge LNG terminal additional regasification capacity as the “Open Season” for additional regasification capacity at the terminal has “successfully been closed”.
During the binding window of the Open Season, the full 6 MMT/Y capacity on offer has been subscribed. “As a result, Fluxys LNG has taken the final investment decision to build the additional infrastructure required at the Zeebrugge LNG terminal.”
The additional regasification capacity will be provided in two steps:
* Step 1: as from early 2024, a total of 4.7 MMT/Y of additional regasification capacity;
* Step 2: as from early 2026, the full 6 MMT/Y of additional regasification capacity.

Backgrounds quoted from the Global LNG Database®:

On 3 Sep. 2019, Qatar Petroleum (QP) and Fluxys Belgium through their respective units signed a long-term LNG services agreement for the Zeebrugge LNG terminal. Under the agreement, QP subscribed to unloading slots at the facility from the expiry of the current long-term unloading contracts and up to 2044.
Fluxys said that the new long-term LNG services agreement is the outcome of a subscription window held from April 30 to May 24, 2019, for services at the Zeebrugge LNG terminal upon expiry of the current long-term unloading contracts in 2023.
Earlier, the Belgian federal commission for electricity and gas regulation (CREG) had approved the accompanying tariff and LNG services agreement proposals, clearing the way for turning the binding interest obtained through the subscription window into a long-term LNG services agreement.
