The GTA Phase 1 FPSO started its 12,000 nautical miles journey from Qidong shipyard in China after “completing a series of sea trials following construction over the past three and half years.”
The GTA Phase 1 FPSO contractors are Cosco Shipping and Technip Energies.
The FPSO is a key part of the major integrated GTA development that also includes subsea development of gas fields and near-shore FLNG facilities.
The FPSO will process natural gas - removing condensate, water, and other impurities - before exporting it by pipeline to the project’s 2.3 MMT/Y FLNG facilities, 10-Km offshore, the operator said, adding that with eight processing and production modules, the FPSO will process around 500 MMCF/D of gas.
GTA Phase 1 project's shareholders are BP (operator) 61%, Kosmos 29%, Mauritanienne des Hydrocarbures et de Patrimoine Minier (SMHPM) 5%, NOCs Petrosen 5%
