GasLink pipeline project which will connect gas fields in northwestern British Columbia with the Shell-operated LNG Canada project in Kitimat is 94% complete and scheduled for mechanical completion by the end of the year, the project’s operator Coastal GasLink has said in its latest report.
The 670-Km pipeline will deliver 2.1 BCF/D of natural gas with the potential to deliver up to 5BCF/D, through additional compression along the route.

According to the Global LNG Database®, LNG Canada project’s shareholders are Shell 40%, PETRONAS 25%, PetroChina Canada 15%, Mitsubishi Corporation 15%, and Kogas 5%.
The 14 MMT/Y LNG export project is now more than 87% complete and it is on track to begin LNG shipments around 2025.
LNG Canada is also weighing whether to build a second phase to double annual capacity to 28 MMT as it plans to build the project’s second phase with natural gas-powered turbines and switch to electricity as more renewable power becomes available.

In Jul. 2023, Flour announced the arrival of the last module of the LNG Canada project by ship from its fabrication yard in Zhuhai, China as it has completed the project’s module fabrication program. The first major module, measuring 145 feet tall and weighing more than 5,000 tons was received in March 2022. "Overall, a total of 215 modules of varying sizes have been received and are being set at the project site."
Fluor, along with its joint venture partner JGC, is delivering multiple aspects of the LNG Canada project, including engineering, procurement, fabrication and delivery of modules, and construction of the project's infrastructure and utilities, marine structures and LNG storage tank.
