Woodside has said that it joined the Rockies LNG Partnership as a “potential natural gas supplier” to the proposed Ksi Lisims LNG project on the west coast of British Columbia.
The Australian operator has already completed a transaction bringing Paramount Resources into the Liard field, located onshore British Columbia. “Both parties will have an equal 50% interest in all the leases and Paramount will assume operatorship.”

Liard shale gas basin is Canada's second-largest known gas resource after the Montney, which straddles B.C. and Alberta, and it ranks ninth in the world, according to the country’s National Energy Board (NEB).
However, the gas resource’s development is a very technical-environmental challenging project as it is trapped in layers of shale up to 4-Km deep in the ground in most places.

Rockies LNG Partners is collaborating with the Nisga’a Nation and Western LNG to develop the 12 MMT/Y Ksi Lisims FLNG project on the west coast of British Columbia.
The project’s start-up was expected for the first quarter of 2029; however, it has to receive all local and federal regulatory permissions before launching, according to the Global LNG Database®.

Shell had recently signed an initial agreement to buy 2 MMT/Y of LNG from Ksi Lisims LNG for 20-year.
