A joint venture between Technip Energies and KBR (KTJV) has been selected for undertaking engineering, procurement, fabrication and construction (EPFC) works for the Lake Charles LNG export project in Louisiana, USA.

Subject to Energy Transfer making a positive final investment decision (FID), this project will convert the existing Lake Charles LNG import and regasification terminal into a 16.45 MMT/Y LNG export plant, including three 5.5 MMT/Y modular LNG trains, brownfield modification to LNG storage tanks, along with procurement, transportation, fabrication, installation, commissioning, and startup of the plant.

Earlier, Energy Transfer had said that it expects to take a FID on the Lake Charles LNG export project in the fourth quarter of 2024, depending on the export approval by the US DOE.
The first LNG cargo was expected to be exported in 2028-H1.
