Sempra-operated Energia Costa Azul LNG in Mexico is 95% complete, with pre-commissioning underway as the US-based operator expects first drop of LNG will be produced in spring 2026 with the maiden commissioning cargoes to be exported in 2026-Q3.

Sempra had initially aimed to kick off the project operations in summer 2025, however, it revised the timeline last year to spring 2026, attributing the shift to some “labor and productivity challenges.”

According to the Global LNG Database®, the 3.25 MMT/Y Energia Costa Azul LNG project is under-construction in the north of Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico.
