The 2.4 MMT/Y Nguya FLNG unit, constructed at Wison (Nantong) Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. shipyard in China, has arrived offshore the Republic of Congo to join Eni’s flagship Congo LNG project.
Eni held the sail-away ceremony for the unit in Shanghai on 26 August 2025.
Under the second phase of the project, the new FLNG unit is planned to operate alongside the Tango FLNG, raising the project’s total capacity to 3 MMT/Y by the first quarter of 2026.
According to the
Global LNG Database®, Baker Hughes has been selected to provide equipment for the 380-meter-long, 60-meter-wide Nguya FLNG unit, which will be anchored at a water depth of around 40 meters. The facility will have storage capacity of over 180,000 cubic meters of LNG and 45,000 cubic meters of LPG.
The subsea infrastructure required for Phase 2—including gas treatment—has been completed and is “progressing on schedule”, enabling mooring and startup by the end of this year.
